Thinking and speaking out loud to my phone tonight. From anger to LOVE. Letting it out…

anger.

I was angry this morning and that is not usually a feeling that I get. Usually I am very very slow to anger. I hold it all in and it takes so much to make me angry. I was feeling it this morning and I’ve been feeling it the last couple weeks. I’m not angry at any one individual. I was angry at a lot of situational things that make up the whole picture and not looking at the blessings that are around me in the moment.

Not having the self-control to hold it in.

We holds celebrities or idols to such a high standard if they do not have the self control to hold something in.

What about the rest of us?

To press the button on any social media. What about a text message?

Do you nervously wait for a reply every time you press send? That is usually a quick reaction and many times we second guess what we just wrote.

We are afraid that people are going to judge what we wrote on any platform. Whether it be social media, email, text, a blog, publishing a book or any other type of situation where we have to press that send button. That send button, that post button, that link button, that search button, that autocorrect button, that angry button, that love button, that care button, that button.

How many buttons do we have to have?

What about speech? Is speaking faster than writing? The answer is yes because I’m speaking this right now.

It was at one time an expression, “are they pushing your buttons?” That related to real life situations. Now we’re all about pushing buttons in society. Validating through a button. Validating through a sentence.

Are people afraid to write anymore?

Are people afraid to push a button and publish a whole book?

What about writing letters? Are people afraid to write letters?

It seems like the slower the process of writing something the less nerve there is in sending it.

Are we quicker to speak or are we slow to speak? Are we quick to write or are we slow to write?

Think backwards in society and think about technology? It’s moving way too fast. We need to slow down. There’s so much scrutiny when it comes to putting something out there. There’s no Grace for people anymore.

There’s little forgiveness for people anymore.

These are the things that we were taught to do. To love each other. To give each other Grace. Do not judge.

To forgive one another. To forgive quickly.

Look at society today and look at what it’s like. How much pressure you’re under just behind a computer? Behind a cell phone. At work. At home.

Look at how much pressure your kids are under. Did you ever think back to when you were a kid and what made you nervous? What was it? Think about it for a moment.

Was it playing a basketball game in front of a crowd?

Was it speaking in front of a classroom?

Was it posting something on social media and hoping to get a good reaction?

Hoping for someone to press that like button, that love button, that care button, or praying that somebody would write something and comment, or praying that would give you a phone call or come see you?

Do you hope that people will do the same thing for your kids? What about live streams? What feels better? Having someone come and watch you in person or having someone watch you on the internet?

What if you could choose?

What if you are a child and you have no choice but to do both?

What if you are a parent and you don’t agree with both?

What if you are a child and you don’t agree with both?

Technology is so invasive that we no longer feel safe. Technology can also make us feel more safe. It can be used for the right reasons and it can be used for the wrong reasons.

Now do you trust technology more than you trust people?

Think about that one.

Now think about someone you can trust.

Now think about the person that came to mind and what about talking to that person in real life? How hard is it to get to that person? How far away do they live?

Are they in the room with you?

Why can’t you talk to that person?

What if you feel like that person?

What if we all feel like that person?

…My guess is that we all do. Because we’re constantly looking down at the phone. We’re not saying what we want to say. We’re not saying what we want to say to that person right in front of us. W need to be kind. We need to be gentle. We need to be loving.

Perfection is boring. Messy is entertaining.

What about a good balance of both?

What kind of movies do you like?

Do you like the perfect picture story or do you like comedy?

What if everybody painted their lives on social media the way that their life actually played out?

If your life is a comedy then why not treat it like a comedy on social media?

If your life is so dead serious are you so serious about everything you post on social media?

…If your life is so serious are you judging anyone for making a simple mistake or posting something you don’t believe in?

Are you upset about other religions? Are you upset about politics? Are you upset about people’s choices and people’s actions?

What are you so upset about?

Look at yourself and ask you this question.

Are you upset with yourself?

Have you not forgiven yourself for the things that you are upset about?

Is your life a betrayal of hating the things that you actually love?

Or do you love the things that you actually love?

Do you use words that you hate?
…What words do you hate?

What words are you attracted to?

What words do you love?

What words are you attracted to?

What words make you uncomfortable?

What words do you use?

What types of people make you happy?

Now who do you idolize?

Now why do you idolize?

Have they ever told a lie?

Be honest…

Now what words should you use?

What words should you use towards your brothers and sisters?

Each person is different. Each person is unique. Each person is going to have a different opinion or a different viewpoint on everything.

What happened to America is a melting pot? Well it is right now because we’re slowly melting this place to the ground.

I guess people couldn’t stand the idea of bringing a bunch of different people together to make this country great. To bring different cultures together. To bring different types of people together. To bring different people with different backgrounds and different ideas to create the most beautiful people, beautiful places and beautiful things in the world.

We have pushed so far away from this that we are kicking those people out of our country. We are all immigrants.

Which one of you can say that their ancestors were here before Christopher Columbus? I didn’t think so.

I’m not starting a political conversation. I’m starting with common sense. Are you a Native American?

Are you the result of an ancestor deciding to come here?

OR…

Are you the result of someone else’s ancestor pushing you to be here?

Forcing you to be here?

Being sent on a ship and being forced to come here?

Something against your will?

Can you think if your ancestor brought that person here?

Why did they bring that person here?

Was it to use that person?

What for?

Now who are you to judge? The person that forced those people to come here for their own benefit or are you to judge the people that came here unwillingly?

Our ancestry can tell us a lot about the person that we are today. Dig into your past. Dig into your ancestry. Then look at the ideas that you have today.

Are they the result of what your ancestors believed?

Have they been passed down from generation to generation?

You have to think why you have your beliefs. The one thing you need to do is know the difference between right and wrong. It’s inherently in all of us but apparently all of us do not practice the difference between right and wrong. That’s why there’s division. It’s like seeing the difference between black and white and right now we’re seeing the difference between left and right. I’m not talking race. I’m talking about colors and directions.

Does your mind go in all different directions?

What if we could go in every direction we please?

There’s not such a thing as always a good direction or a bad direction. That is the reason there are rules.

Think about the fork in the road. You can either go left or right. That’s not the case anymore and that has never been the case. There are so many different Forks that there are so many different directions to go. So many right ways and so many wrong ways. That’s how we learn. We don’t always take the right way or we don’t always take the wrong way. That’s life. That’s choices. Sometimes it’s right and sometimes it’s wrong. The thing is no one gets it right fully and no one gets it wrong fully. That’s called life. No one gets it fully right and no one gets it fully wrong.

Do we need more or less rules? What if it was simpler?

But what if there are so many rules, so many contracts, so many times that we just blindly press agree on a button on cell phone that we have no idea what we just signed or agreed to?

When you in a certain situation and you have to read what you are signing are you read the entire thing that you just signed?

Or would you like the abbreviated version?

Why do we trust the abbreviated version?

Why do we need so many words in a contract?

Why do we need so many words in an agreement?

Why do we have so many words in the law?

Why can’t we keep it simple?

Everything is so long these days that we blindly signed our lives away.

Do you think everyone on this Earth has read everything they have signed?

Has anyone said yes when they wanted to say no?

That is just a maddening subject and that makes me want to change the subject… so I’ll change it.

There are so ways to let things out although everyone thinks we need to hold things in. I guess it’s not the right place for it. We all say we need to hold this picture perfect Perfection on social media.

Maybe it’s all about self control?

Something that is essential for life. What if somebody has been silenced for so long? What if somebody has been silenced for years and years and years?

Are we going to judge that person for letting things out on any platform they please? If they are in public do they have freedom of speech? How many different Outlets are there?

What about going to court? That’s a little more serious. We put our hand on the Bible but do we tell the truth? Is somebody telling us to tell a lie. Do we always listen to that person? Do we always listen to the person that we give money to?

What is more valuable: the truth and being honest or money?

This is why I hate money. It makes people less important.

Maybe instead of dismissing that person and talking about that person behind their back we come with empathy and understanding.

Moving forward with different circumstances and different situations with people where forgiveness is not there and judgment is there. Maybe instead of judgment we seek understanding.

Maybe we reach out.

Maybe we try to help that person?

Maybe we treat that person as human. Maybe we treat that person with respect.

Can we do that to everyone?

Can we not trust anyone anymore?

What are you watching right now? What are you reading right now? What are you looking at right now? Is it happy, sad, beautiful, funny, sad or just good or bad?

What attracted you to it?

Why?

We all need to be empathetic to the world around us and to the people around us. It starts with how you treat the person right next to you. It starts with the person in your household or the closest person to you. Each and every moment it starts with that person. The person closest to you. That person is you and it is up to you how you are going to treat that person right in front of you.

We are all brothers and sisters.

Did it all start with one person?

If that’s the origin then guess what? We’re all related. We’re all one big family.

Family first right?

Let’s start acting like it. No more hate. People have been preaching that for a long time. Come together? The Beatles talked about that a long time ago. It starts with you. Each and every one of you. It also starts with I or me. Be the change. Look in the mirror and ask yourself these questions.

Be prepared to give yourself some Grace.

You’re human and we are all flawed.

Rather than focusing on your flaws focus on your strengths. Focus on the best things about your life.

I believe the greatest thing is that you’re human.

Do you think it’s about money?

Or would you rather be in good health?

You’re the most powerful race in the world. The thing is that’s not a race it’s a mammal. A human race is a different type of mammal. The thing is we’re all different types of mammals. I’m not just talking about skin color. Is that where your mind went first?

Now remember what about Christopher Columbus?

Are you an immigrant or a Native American?

Do we judge animals based on their differences? Or do we see the difference between good and bad? I could go on forever about these topics.

The thing is we need to love each other. It all starts with love. It all starts with the origin and how we treat each other from the beginning. From the very first time we meet each other. Can you love the person next to you? Can you love yourself? Can you start with love?

Let’s start there…
